BWRT Level 3 Psychophysiology: Mind, Body & Chronic Stress

When Stress Shows Up in the Body

Have you ever noticed that stress, anxiety or emotional pressure can affect your physical wellbeing?

Perhaps you've experienced:

  • IBS or digestive symptoms that worsen during stressful periods

  • Persistent fatigue or exhaustion

  • Fibromyalgia symptoms

  • Chronic tension or pain

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Skin flare-ups

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Persistent physical symptoms that seem linked to stress

Many people know that stress affects the body.

What they don't realise is that the brain can become stuck in automatic patterns that keep the stress response active long after the original trigger has passed.

What Is BWRT Level 3 Psychophysiology?

BWRT® Level 3 Psychophysiology is the most advanced level of BWRT practitioner training.

It focuses on the relationship between the brain, emotions, behaviour and physical responses.

Rather than looking only at thoughts or feelings, we explore how automatic patterns within the nervous system may contribute to ongoing stress responses and their impact on well-being.

This approach is designed for situations where emotional and physical patterns appear closely connected.

The Mind-Body Connection

When we experience stress, anxiety or trauma, the brain activates physical survival responses.

These responses are designed to protect us.

However, sometimes the brain continues to run those responses long after they are no longer useful.

This can leave people feeling as though their body is permanently stuck in a state of alert, tension or overwhelm.

Many clients describe:

  • Feeling constantly "switched on"

  • Never fully relaxing

  • Symptoms that worsen during stressful periods

  • Exhaustion despite rest

  • Physical tension that never seems to disappear

BWRT helps us work with the patterns driving these responses.

Areas Where This Approach May Be Helpful

I frequently work with people experiencing:

  • Chronic stress responses

  • Burnout

  • IBS and digestive symptoms affected by stress

  • Fibromyalgia-related stress patterns

  • Chronic fatigue-related stress responses

  • Persistent tension and hypervigilance

  • Anxiety-related physical symptoms

  • Mind-body stress patterns

  • Emotional factors affecting well-being

BWRT is not a medical treatment and does not replace appropriate medical care.

However, many people find that reducing the brain's stress responses has a positive impact on their overall well-being.
