BWRT Level 3 Psychophysiology for Chronic Stress, Autoimmune Conditions & Mind-Body Health

When Stress Shows Up in the Body

Have you ever noticed that stress, anxiety or emotional pressure seem to affect your physical wellbeing?

Perhaps you've experienced:

  • IBS or digestive symptoms that worsen during stressful periods

  • Persistent fatigue or exhaustion

  • Fibromyalgia symptoms

  • Chronic tension or pain

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Skin flare-ups

  • Sleep difficulties

  • Stress-related physical symptoms

  • Autoimmune conditions that appear to worsen during periods of emotional strain

Many people understand that stress affects the body.

What they don't always realise is that the brain and nervous system can become stuck in automatic patterns that keep the stress response active long after the original trigger has passed.

What Is BWRT Level 3 Psychophysiology?

BWRT® Level 3 Psychophysiology is the highest level of BWRT practitioner training.

It focuses on the relationship between the brain, emotions, behaviour, nervous system and physical responses.

Rather than looking only at thoughts or feelings, BWRT Level 3 explores how automatic patterns within the brain and nervous system may contribute to ongoing stress responses and the way physical symptoms are experienced.

This approach is designed for situations where emotional and physical patterns appear closely connected.

Understanding the Mind-Body Connection

When we experience stress, anxiety, trauma or prolonged emotional pressure, the brain activates physical survival responses designed to protect us.

Normally, these responses switch off once the threat has passed.

Sometimes they don't.

The nervous system can remain in a state of heightened alert, leaving people feeling as though their body is permanently stuck in stress mode.

Many clients describe:

  • Feeling constantly "switched on"

  • Difficulty relaxing

  • Symptoms that worsen during stressful periods

  • Exhaustion despite rest

  • Persistent physical tension

  • Feeling trapped in a cycle of stress and recovery

BWRT helps us work with the patterns driving these responses.

Areas Where This Approach May Be Helpful

I frequently work with people experiencing:

  • Chronic stress and nervous system dysregulation

  • Burnout

  • IBS and digestive symptoms affected by stress

  • Fibromyalgia-related stress patterns

  • Fatigue-related conditions

  • Autoimmune conditions affected by stress

  • Persistent tension and hypervigilance

  • Anxiety-related physical symptoms

  • Health anxiety

  • The psychological impact of long-term health conditions

  • Mind-body stress patterns

Every person's experience is unique, and therapy is tailored to the individual rather than the diagnosis.

How BWRT Level 3 Works

BWRT works with the brain's automatic responses.

Rather than focusing endlessly on symptoms, we identify and change the patterns that may be contributing to ongoing stress responses.

The aim is not to treat a medical condition itself......The aim is to help the brain and nervous system respond in a calmer, healthier and more balanced way.

Many clients report feeling:

  • Calmer and more resilient

  • Less overwhelmed by symptoms

  • Better able to cope with challenges

  • More in control of their wellbeing

  • Less trapped by stress-related patterns

Can BWRT Level 3 help people with autoimmune conditions?

BWRT does not treat autoimmune conditions directly.

However, many people find it helpful in reducing stress-related responses, improving emotional wellbeing and developing healthier ways of responding to the challenges associated with long-term health conditions.

Can stress really affect physical symptoms?

Yes.

Research has shown strong links between stress, the nervous system, immune function and the way many physical symptoms are experienced.

Can sessions be online?

Yes.

BWRT works effectively online as well as in person.
