How BWRT Can Help OCD

BWRT® (BrainWorking Recursive Therapy) works with the automatic responses that drive obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviours.

Rather than focusing on the content of the thought itself, BWRT works with the brain's reaction to that thought.

This allows us to target the pattern behind the problem rather than becoming stuck analysing the thought over and over again.

The aim is to help your brain respond differently so that intrusive thoughts lose their emotional impact and compulsive responses become unnecessary.

Common OCD Issues I Help With

BWRT may help with:

  • Intrusive thoughts

  • Checking behaviours

  • Reassurance seeking

  • Contamination fears

  • Health-related obsessions

  • Harm thoughts

  • Relationship OCD

  • Mental rituals

  • Rumination and overthinking

  • Perfectionism and self-doubt

Understanding Intrusive Thoughts

Many people are frightened by the thoughts they experience.

They may worry:

  • "What if this thought means something about me?"

  • "Why can't I stop thinking about this?"

  • "What if I lose control?"

  • "What if it happens?"

The reality is that intrusive thoughts are extremely common.

The problem is not usually the thought itself. The problem is the brain's emotional reaction to the thought and the behaviours that follow in an attempt to feel safe or certain.

Over time, this creates a self-perpetuating cycle.

BWRT helps break that cycle.

Why Choose Me?

I am Lesley Allen, an Accredited BWRT® Level 3 Practitioner with over 20 years' experience helping people overcome anxiety, OCD, fears, trauma and unwanted patterns.

My approach is warm, practical and solution-focused.

I understand how distressing OCD can be and how frustrating it is when you know something doesn't make logical sense but still feel driven to respond to it.

Together we work to help your brain develop a calmer and more helpful response.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to tell you my intrusive thoughts?

Only to the extent that you feel comfortable.

BWRT does not require detailed disclosure of every thought or fear.

Will BWRT make the thoughts disappear?

The goal is not to fight or suppress thoughts.

The goal is to change the emotional response to them so they lose their power and significance.

How many sessions will I need?

Many clients notice significant progress within 2–6 sessions.

Long-standing or complex issues may require additional sessions.

Can sessions be online?

Yes. BWRT works effectively both online and in person.

Take the First Step

You do not have to continue battling intrusive thoughts, compulsions or endless overthinking alone.
